The life lessons we can learn from the beautiful creatures we work with everyday.
Welcome to Spiritual Cowgirl, a sacred place for growth within our equine partnerships and within our lives.
Spiritual Cowgirl: (noun) an enlightened, passionate, equine loving woman who believes that with the right mindset her and her horse can soar.
From the time I was three years old and first met horses, I felt their magic. I felt the very essence of the horse on a soul level. The power, elegance, ancient instincts, intuition, and silent communication that is so unique to these beautiful animals. Anyone who has worked with horses has surely felt this.
Like most horse crazed girls I obsessively researched horses, drew them in class, turned every school project into something to do with horses, and spent as much time with them as I could. I grew up in the city, no horses around, but my grandma (a former Saskatchewan farm girl) would take me for drives to find horses to pet and feed carrots. No matter how far out in the field a horse was, they would come to me and I would somehow call them in. It started to become obvious to me that these creatures had an inner knowing and truth to them and I knew that I could learn a lot from them.
Our Wisest Teachers
I've devoted my life to learning from horses. Learning everything I can about them and about the way they interact with the world, with each other and with us. I have found that horses have taught me about so much more than just riding, they have taught me about life, people and most of all myself.
It is my intention with this blog to teach you some of the life lessons they have taught me. To speak to you, the western women (and men) in a way you can most easily relate to. In the way of the horse. To compare the struggles of life, love, family, and friendship to the trials and tribulations we sometimes go through with our horses and to the lessons they can teach us.
It is my hope that this blog will open your mind, teach you more about them and more about life. I hope that it will make you laugh and cry and learn but most of all I hope it brings you to a deeper connection and appreciation for the wisest teachers the creator ever brought to earth.
